Poseur

the artist

The artist is a Poseur who lives in Soho. Without any real purpose or meaning, the Poseur creates meaningless art and is represented by a gallery which specializes in representing meaningless artists. Meaningless people spend time at openings of this artist's work and fill the air with meaningless chatter, while drinking cheap wine.

the art

The meaningless art created by the Poseur goes by many names, Post-Modernism, Neo-Something-or-Other, or just plain crap. It doesn't say anything, it doesn't do anything, it doesn't look like anything. If metal could vomit, it would look like the Poseur's work.

the beret

The Poseur doesn't wear a beret, but everyone falls all over themselves at parties telling the poseur what a lovely beret he is wearing. The Poseur spends a half-hour in the bathroom adjusting the non-existent beret, hoping to adjust it so that it catches the light just right.

The trick is that the Poseur always knows which parties to go to, which parties will generate the most compliments for the beret.
