Pieter van Voorhis
the artist
A 27 year-old writer of poems and short stories.
A member of a group of like-minded writers, mostly in their twenties
and thirties.
the art
Let others create illusions of light and airy magic, or of darkness
and depravity. The truth is to be found in real things and events,
rendered with as much authenticity and as little judgment as possible.
Craft, observation, discipline, and detachment are
paramount.
The painters in his group (many of them admirers of Andy Warhol) do
not necessarily strive for physical reality (that's what
cameras are for), but their abstractions are carried out methodically,
often determind by mathematical processes, and never adjustted on a
whim.
the beret
The hat, if it's comfortable, is something unostentatious, possibly a
bit abused but not conspicuously so. One favorite is a Baltimore
Orioles baseball cap (post-1989 style).
