Mark LaPolla
the artist
The artist is an it. Works with solid helium. Its budget is
very limited since there are few life forms that can appreciate its
work. Basically, this artist creates perfect spheres into which it
injects an imperfection. That imperfection is what in these creatures
passes for sperm. This artist is heavily ridiculed on its home planet
where the vogue is making perfect cubes with imperfections.
the art
Since this artist is gender neutral, just like all of the school books
on its planet, the artist is thinking of changing the imperfection it
injects into its sphere to what passes for eggs in this species. This
would be an even more radical departure for its what-passes-for-sperm
dominated society.
the beret
This artist wears a beret, against all cultural taboos. The
explanation of the taboo is too long for here but has to do with cubes
vs. spheres. Its hat is crystal steel that is embedded into his skull
and comes to a point at the top. It only takes it off when injecting
imperfections into its spheres.
