Adam DeFranco

the artist

The artist that I present is myself. A young guy, 19, lives in Boston and goes to BU. His expression is through his writing (and technical theater also) [though if this were any true representaion of his talent he'd be expecting many rejection letters in his future if his fantasy were ever realized] I'm rambeling I know ;)

He's also a "live action net talker freak". He a has "residance" on a few talkers, including Foothills, Surfers, Resort, and Forest. On most of them his "tag" is Interesting, but on surfers he's known as Roland. Most of the people he talks to are real life friends, but he's met one or two people who have become important to his real life. To touch this invisible persons hand would make him the happiest person. "Interesting" seems to be fairly unimposing, and an allabout nice guy, he tends to roll with the punches and be mellow. (even if it breaks his heart)

the art

Adam, has been working on this little big tail for his mid-term project for creative writing. (erm that's tale *laugh*) The jist of it is a relationship story with character development, the main character is or rather has my name, but I've developed him in souch a way that he's everything but me, such is the way of the first person, what author wants to stand naked and say its really himself (except in e-mail to complete strangers?) What I had noticed (intended?) as I wrote it is that all the other characters seemed be more (outwardly) aspects of myself. In this story there are distinctions in how the main character acts and how he thinks. Outwardly he is very "sensory" to quote one of my professors. (i.e. he's concerned with material things, what he can see, etc.) When you see what's inside of him his thoughts are almost beautiful. The title of the first chapter is "Russian Dolls" refering to (among other things) how what this character does fits into what he thinks, and ultamitly into my (true) self. (and that's only half the story!)
[man what a mess ;]
I havn't even mentioned the plot twist!

the beret

I had a hat. I loved it. I lost it.
(isn't that a variation of a standard outline?)
This hat was a fedora, I bought it when I was in Florida four years ago. Not just a fedora, but an official "Indiana Jones" fedora. $40 at the "Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular" I used to wear it whenever I wrote, it was my "thinking cap". I started wearing it in public everyday towards the end of my senior year, and my freshman year at the University. But one day in my science lecture I must have left my hat under my chair!

how could I have done that?!

I was demolished.

I searched and asked all the janitors what they knew, nothing turned up. now whenever anyone I know says they'll be going to Florida, I ask them to bye me another hat.
