Nixe Addes
the artist
the artists name is Nixe Addes. Age, sex not important.
the art
Sound/visual sculptures consisting of one sample of a half
second or so repeated endlessley through a wall of boomboxes. Dancers
on the stage form a rugby scrum around Nixe and a cohort. The dancers
are jumping up and down to the 'beat' of the repeating sample. The
sample itself is heavily altered sonically. Nixe and the cohort are
smashing a flaming gong in the middle of the circle. the piece ends
when the supply of flammable liquid runs out.
the beret
the beret consists of miniature bronze gongs fastened together
into a mail like armored head shield that comes down to just above the
eyes and ears.
